Days beyond the western borders of the Kroom Magistrate rests Yarhaven, a town of ill repute. While most civilized people are content to rest within their villages, enclaves, and holds, a very few feel the call of the wilds beyond civilization. By tradition, Yarhaven is where these wanderers gather to venture forth. Bold or quiet, selfish or generous, discontent or curious—you have come here to leave the civilized lands behind and forge a new destiny for yourself. Social mobility is limited, and adventuring is one of the few ways a person can rise above the station of their birth.

Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing game where you play an adventurer out to seek glory and riches. The game combines storytelling, acting, and tactical combat using dice-rolling to randomize results. The West Marches is a particular kind of role-playing game where the focus is open-ended exploration rather than linear storytelling and the players change session-to-session, slightly different from normal D&D games.
